Family Therapy & Training
OKCYC offers family therapy rooted in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) to support youth and their families. TF-CBT is an evidence-based approach designed to address the emotional and behavioral impacts of trauma. Through family therapy sessions, we create a safe space for healing, open communication, and collaboration between youth and their caregivers.
Our therapists work to strengthen family relationships by helping members process trauma, build healthy coping skills, and develop strategies to foster long-term resilience. This approach empowers families to understand and navigate the challenges of trauma together, laying the foundation for sustained growth and stability beyond treatment.
It is important for family or positive adult figures to be a part of the youths treatment. We strongly encourage family therapy for all youth that are participants in OKCYC programs.
Family training services use skills and approaches learned in therapy and apply them to real-life, naturalistic settings. Family training is aimed at strengthening the family’s capacity to support their youth’s growth and well-being. These sessions are to provide tips, assistance, and confidence in introducing new skills outside of a residential treatment setting. Training services can be applied in community settings or in the family’s home.
